The five years since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China （CPC） have been truly remarkable years in the course of the development of China.Facing the surging of international and domestic problems and the overlapped and interwoven risks and hidden hazards over the past five years， the CPC Central Committee， with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core， held high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics， implemented the guiding principles put forward at the 18th CPC National Congress and at the 3rd， 4th， Sth and 6th sessions of the 18th CPC Central Committee， pushed ahead the five-sphere integrated plan and the four-pronged comprehensive strategy by leading the new normal with new ideas， guiding the new practice with new visions， and pursuing new development with new strategy， followed the current trend of developmentglobally and in China， abolished the old to establish the new and promoted advantages to eliminate disadvantages in line with practical requirements and people's wish， and made new advances for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Resounding victory was achieved on the new Long March towards building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
　　Over the past five years， China reached a new level in economic development， standing high amidst the changing international situation. The average annual growth during 2013-2016 was 7.2%， significantly higher than the world average， and China contributed over 30% of the global economic growth， outweighing the combined contribution from the United States， the Euro-zone and Japan. Maintaining its position as the second largest economy in the world， China accounted for 14.9% of the world economy in 2016. The gross national income per capita rose year by year to reach over 8，000 US dollars， much higher than the average of mid-income countries. Upgrading and optimization of economic structure accelerated， as was reflected by the transition from \"Made in China\" to \"Created in China\"， the expansion of service sector to account for over 50% ofthe economy， the increasing importance of consumption as the \"ballast stone\" of economic growth， and the booming development of new driving forces， new industries， and new formats and pattems of business. Supply-side structural reform further deepened with sustained outcomes. Important headway was made in the internationalization of Renminbi， as it was officially included in the Special Drawing Right basket of the International Monetary Fund in 2016. China continued to offer Chinese wisdom and Chinese approaches in global governance， with general recognition from the international communities.
