本書從社會文化活動理論視角，運用定量定性相結(jié)合的方法，對中部某省屬本科院校四百余名大學生的英語學習負動機進行實證研究，發(fā)現(xiàn)負動機是省屬高校大學生英語學習中的普遍現(xiàn)象。他們的英語學習負動機受到主體矛盾、規(guī)則矛盾、學習共同體矛盾、中介工具矛盾和勞動分工矛盾等介入因素的影響。本研究表明英語學習負動機是一個社會中介現(xiàn)象，為英語負動機研究提供了視角參考，為克服英語課堂負動機的消極影響提供了實踐依據(jù)。
李池利，利物浦大學應用語言學哲學博士，副教授，華中師范大學訪問學者。主要研究興趣與專長包括但不限于應用語言學、二語習得、第二語言教學理論與實踐等。近年來先后在《SYSTEM》和《中國應用語言學》等SSCI、ESCI、中文核心以及外語類專業(yè)期刊上發(fā)表論文30余篇。主持完成中國外語教育基金、全國高校外語教學科研項目、湖北省教育廳人文社科項目等省部級課題10余項，參與教育部教育規(guī)劃項目等省部級課題多項。
